Ways to pay at a glance

Whichever payment method you choose, it is important to make sure your payment details are accurate and that it reaches us by your due date each month. This is especially important when your due date falls at a weekend, or on a Bank Holiday. This is to avoid your account falling into arrears, which may lead to fees and affect your credit file.

Online Transfer If you use online banking, make a payment anytime, anywhere with an internet connection. Make a payment using our account details (click here for details), quoting your mortgage account number as the reference.            Payments made after 6:30pm, at the weekend or on a bank holiday will be applied to your account the following working day.
Standing Order

Set it up with your bank and payments will be made on the same day every month.

Contact your bank or access your online banking to set up a payment. Please note if your payment amount changes it is your responsibility to amend your standing order details. Please instruct your bank to make the payment at least four working days before your mortgage payment due date. Please Note: if your due date falls on a weekend or Bank Holiday, the payment will be applied to your account the following working day.
In Branch For people who prefer to make face-to-face transactions.

Visit Royal Bank of Scotland or NatWest to make a payment.

You will need a paying in book to pay this way. Contact us on 0330 159 9610 to request one.

Payments will be applied to your account the following working day.
Please Note: A £1 fee is charged for every branch payment made.

Cheque A £6.50 charge is payable if collection fails due to lack of funds. Simply post your cheque to us (our address can be found further down this page). Please allow five working days to allow for postage and the payment to be applied to your account.
Pay by Direct Debit

Update August 2016: The notice period required before changing the date or amount of your monthly payments has reduced from 10 working days to 4 working days.

By far the most popular way to pay many household bills. Once set up, Direct Debit is hassle-free and your payment is automatically covered by the Direct Debit guarantee.

You also have the peace of mind that your payment has been made on time and is free, if your account is up to date. It’s easy to set up and you can re-arrange or cancel it at any time – just call us to change your payment or details.

We will apply your payment on the due date. If a Direct Debit payment collection fails, a £6.50 charge is incurred.

Has your Direct Debit collection failed? Please be aware we may try to take the Direct Debit payment again 7 working days after the first collection fails. Please call us to confirm. In the meantime, we do not recommend that you use any other payment method to make your payment/s as this may lead to a double payment being taken from your bank account.

Pay using our automated Payment Line

Call 0330 332 0080 with your account number, date of birth and correspondence postcode to hand. Please make sure payment is made before 8pm on your payment due date. To use this service you need to be a residential or sole buy to let customer. The payment can only be made by the customer and not a third party.

Please note: Payments made after 8.00pm will not be applied to your mortgage account until the next day (this includes non-working days)

Please do not use this service if your Direct Debit has failed as this may lead to a double payment being taken from your bank account. We may try to take the Direct Debit payment again 7 working days after the first collection fails. Please call us on 0330 159 4850 to confirm.

Please note there are certain customers who are not able to use this service, or who may have to call us on a different number. If you’re not eligible to use the service, you can still ring the payment line number but you will be put through to an agent. Please see more detail below:

If you have a Limited Company mortgage or a total of 5 or more Buy to Let accounts with NRAM, Bradford & Bingley or Mortgage Express please speak to our specialist team to make a payment by calling us on 0330 159 1928.

If you are receiving Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) or are under the Debt Arrangement Scheme (DAS) or have an Individual Voluntary Arrangement (IVA), then please ring the payment line between 8:00am and 6:00pm Monday to Friday as you will need to speak to an agent.

Pay by Online Transfer (Faster Payments)

If you’re more comfortable using online banking, then please use the following details to make your payment.

Please note payments made after 6.30pm or at weekends and Bank Holidays will not be applied to your mortgage account until the next working day. This is especially important to note as a late payment may lead to arrears fees being charged and an adverse effect on your credit file.

If you wish to make a payment into a specific element of your account such as a further loan account (which can sometimes be referred to as a further advance, an unsecured loan or sub account) then please call us on 0330 159 9610 to find out the correct bank details, as these are different from the standard bank details above.

If you have a mortgage originally taken out with GMAC, Kensington, Keystone or Close Brothers, please call us on 0330 159 9610 to confirm the bank details you will need to make your online transfer.

Pay by Standing Order

A Standing Order can be set up by phoning or visiting your bank, or online if you use online banking.

It can only be set up and changed by you via your bank so that you remain in full control of your finances.

Pay In Branch

If you prefer the personal approach of face-to-face transactions, you can continue to make your mortgage payment at any branch of Royal Bank of Scotland or NatWest using a paying-in book. Contact us on 0330 159 9610 to request one.

A £1 charge is payable for every branch payment made and payments will be applied to your account the following working day.

Pay by Cheque

It is still possible to pay by cheque even though it is a little slower than most other methods. If you do want to continue making your mortgage payments in this way, please remember to allow additional time for your payment to clear once received.

Please allow five working days for your cheque to be received and be applied to your mortgage account. A £6.50 charge is payable if collection fails due to lack of funds. Cheques should be made payable to: NRAM and posted to PO Box 629 Durham DH1 9JQ Your mortgage account number must be written on the reverse.
